Tried it and 93 seemed to run better. Stuck with it. Not looking to get into a fuel debate.

No reason to debate. But if you felt any difference it was either because you got a bad load of lower octane previously or it was psychological. Simply and irrefutable science proves that it does nothing on an engine that does not require it.

I run 91 in all my trucks/cars regardless of what is preffered. More refined fuel, cleaner, higher octane rating...... Whats another 2 or 3 dollars when filling up a 32 gallon tank. LOL

"More Refined" is how it got a higher octane rating. It does not make the fuel "Better". Especially when an engine doesn't require it. Gasoline companies like to market fuels (that cost more) as being better for your engine.

As for how clean it is?, under federal law ALL grades of gas must have detergents added. Premium fuels often have more added (not always), but you can buy the additives (Techron as an example) as well and use them on occasion and still save a lot of money. And you mention a higher octane rating as though it somehow makes a fuel better. If you understand what octane ratings are you would realize the octane rating is not a measure of quality. It's a measure of a fuels resistance to premature detonation. The higher the compression ration in the engine, the more important that number is. But the stock Dodge Hemi is engineered to run perfectly on 89 octane. Anything more is throwing money away.

As for what is $2-$3 when filling up a 32 gallon tank? With premium fuel typically .10c more per gallon then mid grade, you are talking on average a difference of $3.20 per tankful. That doesn't sound like a lot. But if you fill up once a week that's over $166 a year. So over two tanks of fuel wasted. You could also add Techron every 3,000 miles and still have enough money left for another tank of fuel.

Reliability and fuel economy are two of the biggest selling points for trucks. If Dodge thought running premium would help either one they would require it or at a minimum recommend it. Instead they allow 87 and recommend 89. That should tell you something.

I hope you keep a can in the back for when you don't time it to the foot and run out before you get to the gas station...

Ok, so maybe it's an extra $100 per year or $150, depending how much you drive. What if the only difference it makes it psychological? How much is peace of mind worth? It's not like it's hurting anything.

No, running premium isn't hurting anything, but it's also not helping anything and it is wasting money. And if the difference in price was $10.00 a year i might argue the point with myself. But $100 is a lot of money. Maybe not to some people. But it is to most. Their are people on this forum asking about ways to squeeze out ANY extra MPG's through aftermarket parts. So it's laughable to see people desperate to increase MPG's by any amount to save money and then other people literally throw money away by putting higher priced fuel in for no reason. If the argument is "Piece of mind" I'm sure the gas companies are laughing all the way to the bank. Because their marketing ploy has worked perfectly on you. The same goes for people who insist on 3,000 mile oil changes even when running synthetic. Marketing wins, you lose.

It's no different than those that run CAI. they are convinced that there engines some how are better than stock , putting something that the engine can't use to be any better is a complete waste of money , but some people will convince themselves that what they are doing is good for whatever reason they are doing it.
