Hope all goes well on your trip jameylynn. If you want, call any dealership in your area, and ask what axle ratio you have, they will asked for a portion of your vin number located on the driver side dash(see it thru the windshield). So have that ready when you call. They will be able to tell how much you can tow. You didn't say if you had 4X4 or 4X2. I assume it's a 4X4.
Do you have the towing package (they should be able to tell you that as well at the dealership over the phone or drop in and asked them). Just a suggestion, a transmission cooler will go a long way to saving your transmission it's gonna be a lot warmer as you drive south, hopefully you have one already on the truck from the factory.

http://prntscr.com/7kbc63 <-- is the 4X4

http://prntscr.com/7kbdtv <-- is the 4X2

It does sound like you are ok on weight.

cheers

Default Drive Safe

I own a 2012 Dodge Ram 4X2 with the 4.7-liter engine and a 3.92 Rear axle ratio. (I found my old window sticker from the dealer which has that on it). I towed a 6x12 u-haul from Florida to New York and back full of household stuff. Pulls it like a dream but keep it at or under 70mhp.

I also use it to tow a 24' travel trailer with a 3486 dry weight and 6000 GVWR. I guess it weighs around 4000-4500 when I travel with it, including the various stuff and a small amount of water in the tanks, and I've had no problems.

Drive safe and good luck!

Default Move from Alaska completed

I finally have a minuted to let you know that my daughter and I made it to Tampa with no problems. I did bend the bumper when backing. However, it was midnight, I'd been driving for a while and it was pitch black in a little town in Canada.

Thanks for your helpful information.
