Default Short Video of Ram 1500 5.7L running no header

Hey everyone, was doing some work on my truck removing some broken exhaust manifold bolts and I had to drive to my father in laws to get some help. It was embarrassingly loud so I thought I'd make a video to share. Enjoy.

Isn't it bad for the engine to run it with no exhaust system on it? I thought the pipe's backpressure was needed or else engine damage could result. Rob

Same, everything Ive seen said its a Big No-no to run it for any period of time without a exhaust.
The engine does need the back pressure to run well, I bet you could tune it to run without the pressure, but I think you would still need headers atleast, to also not risk setting your truck on fire.

I definitively agree that running without the exhaust manifold on will damage the engine, but I had to drive it 5 miles to my father in-laws who has a whole metal fab shop. I removed the exhaust manifold and removed 3 out of the 4 broken bolts myself, but there was one that was being a massive pain and he offered to help. I wasn't about to have it towed for 5 miles ya know? We got the bolt extracted and put new bolts and a new gasket on about 2 hours after this was posted.
