Default Coolant recovery tank location

All right, what am I missing here? I went to check the coolant level on my 2010 1500 Hemi and I can't see the coolant recovery tank in the engine bay. I'm guessing it's right in front of me somewhere. Tips?

Does your '09 have the dust shield or sight shield over the top of the grille/radiator area?

You may have to pop that off for a visual.

Sorry, too late and cold to run outside to check mine. Maybe someone else will chime in.

Ah, good point. And there it is, tucked up next to the radiator under the plastic shroud. But the manual says you can look at the side of it to see the level. My tank is totally black with no sight glass opening or level indicator in it anywhere that I can see. How are people checking the fluid level??

Open the top up. Inside is a yellow dipstick. Pull out the dipstick and you should see wet coolant up to the full mark.

I changed the thermostat and then replaced the coolant twice on my 2010. The old Tstat was toast and coolant was weak. Also changed the drive belt for good measures.

Thanks! Wonder why the manual doesn't mention that?

What was involved with changing the coolant? Just draining from a radiator drain and refilling, or does it take a bleeding process too?

My 2014 has a white dipstick under the square yellow cap to check coolant level.

You have to drain more than just the radiator, you need to drain the block and heater core as well. Much easier to justwait for a dealer coupon and take it in for a coolant replacement - you don't really save much doing it yourself.

Some stuff in the 09 manual is carry over from the 3rd Gen trucks. The technical editors obviously missed this recovery tank detail.
