Guys, looking to swap mufflers, to get a little bit more of a beefy sound/rumble. Anyone here swapped out just the muffler? What size are the in/out and what muffler did you use? Pros and cons of it? My truck is a 2013 Ram 1500 Tradesman 4.7L Flex

 

Magnaflow fan here. There are really no pros or cons, you will get a slightly throatier sound with the muffler change, that's about it. Leaving the resonators will dampen the sound you would otherwise get from going to a performance muffler, but you wont have hardly, if any drone if you do leave the resonators on.

 

IIRC the in is 3" and the dual outs are 2.5"

I went with just a muff swap, and installed a Cherry Bomb Extreme.

A coworker of mine cut out the muffler, and went with straight pipe with resonators still intact. Sounded good at idle, but was a little raspy when he got on it.

Mine is more of a rumble if that makes sense to you.

 

Another Large Magnaflow Fan Here. Magnflows contain a baffling agent which helps with drone. I went with a 22" magnaflow for my truck, could not be happier. I have had Flowmasters', Thrush, cherry bombs.... you name it. I will always go back to magnaflow
