Angry 2011 1-ton 5.7 50,000 miles temp gauge

heat guage rises and falls goes almost red and then dropps down to normal ,, under a load of firewood

any ideas and coolant levels are normal?

Please keep your questions to one thread in the correct section (4th gen Ram). Sounds like air in the system or a failing water pump, clogged radiator, etc. What have you done to it so far?

Could also be a bad Thermostat. But the problem is definitely that your coolant is not flowing consistently.

Well i had a head on with a big rock and insurance put new oil pan new, radiator , transmiission pan , and got it back and light came on after 100 miles and then heat went to 3/4 hot and then dropped to normal and the fluid seems to be fine,,

is their any way it could be transmision?

Take it back to whoever did the repair and have them take a look at it. If it didn't do it before, then it was something done during the repair. Doubt it's transmission related.

Sounds to me like when they filled it with coolant they got air in the system. Try burping it or better yet, take it back and make them fix it...
