Question 2012 Ram 1500(ticking sound from engine)

I have a sound from my engine(louder on start up)that I haven't notice before or never recognized....the same sound as if it was low on oil...took my truck to local garage that deal with Dodge and they tell me that it's just the injector's opening and closing....not sure what to think....anyone else with this issue to their 2012 Ram....

I'm on my third 1500 and everyone I have had eventually get the "hemi tick". Never been able to figure out why or what makes it do it. Trucks have been brought to many shops and no problems ever found. I think it's just a hemi thing

i used to have a 08 hemi and had the truck for around 5 years, after sitting overnight and on start up it always ticked then idled at 1500 for couple minutes then idled down to normal.

never had problems with it

my opinion is when the oil settles the valleys dry up and on start up its running dry until the oil pump lubes up the engine

I have never heard any sort of ticking sound from mine until 3-4 months ago...now have over 43,000 kms on her....there is an issue with the ram 1500.... the manifold bolts breaking.....leaking air and ticking louder on cold start up....

Hi toss42,

Sorry to hear about the tick in the engine on your Ram Truck. Sounds like you are going to need a diagnosis from an FCA dealership. Please make an appointment and keep us posted on the outcome and let me know if I can be of assistance.

Thanks,
