Its hard to tell, but I feel I can tell when its on as to me it sounds different. The dealer says all is good and working right. I seen a write up someplace , maybe on this site how one can be added fairly simple

I have an 09 and I asked the same question, there is nothing in the manual and there is no Eco or any other kind of indication and you can't feel or hear it. Makes me wonder if it truly even has it on my truck like it says it does! !

Well Chrysler customer assistance was unable to help me, they tried, but were unable, and suggested I see my dealer. I did stop at my dealer, and was told the ECO was only on 2012 Dodge Rams and newer.
So I am thinking that if these people don't know the "answer" who might, because I am not yet convinced that I been given correct information

On my 2007, I could hear it flutter inside the Y pipe where the 2 banks come together under the floor on the right side.
THAT was before I put a performance muffler on it, THEN there was no doubt when it was on.

Pre-2012, It depends on the level of cluster you have as far as the "ECO" is concerned.

Hi polago,

On page 349 of the manual, I found the following:

"MULTI-DISPLACEMENT SYSTEM (MDS) (IF
EQUIPPED) – 5.7L ENGINE ONLY
This feature offers improved fuel economy by shutting
off four of the engine’s eight cylinders during light load
and cruise conditions. The system is automatic with no
driver inputs or additional driving skills required."

It is possible your 1500 does not have MDS, either because it was not an option on your specific vehicle or it does not have that engine. Do you have the 5.7L engine?

get a specific build sheet for YOUR truck at this website...
just sub YOUR Vin for the one on the URL...
the MDS engine option should be specified on the build sheet...
