Default 2010 powerwagon engine rattle under load

Good evening. I have been a member for awhile now. Its been awhile since i posted anything. But i got a 2010 powerwagon last August. Had 34000 miles on it when i got it. Now its got 42000. The truck runs great but under load such as going up a hill or partial throttle the engine sounds like its rattling. Can only hear it when the windows are down. I tried 93 octane gas and lucas upper cylinder lubricant. Still does it. I also changed the oil to Royal purple months ago. Still no avail. Am i missing something?? Thanks

Sounds like you aren't shifting out of OD,pulling hills with loads causing engine lug, rattling .Very bad formotor and tranny.Heat build-up trashes rubber seals .Try doing the same hill with the OD OFF.Just a Thought................

Truck is shifting fine. It does it through all gears. It seems like the higher the rpms the less it does it. For example. It does it soon as i take off from a stop if i accelerate normal. If get on it it seems to do it less. I test drove a 2011 before i bought this one last year and it did the same thing. It is just annoying. Because it sounds like detonation but i use 93 octane gas. Wonder about the knock senors???

Sounds like detonation to me. When's the last time you went through the ignition system?

Never went through ignition system yet. Im about 12000 miles over due on plugs. But i dont think worn spark plugs can cause that rattle sound. At least i never heard of them causing a rattle sound. Imma change the oil here real soon to. Any recommendations on a good oil?? It currently has royal purple in it now. It has about 8000 miles on it.

The 2010 Hemi has Variable Valve Timing. If the cam phaser or oil control valve isn't working correctly, you could get pinging....especially under load, in theory.

Under the plenum at the front, in the "V". You have to remove the plenum.
