Just got my new 1500 SLT on firday. Live here in Canada so considering getting winter tires / offroad tires. Was looking at the Cooper Discoverer A/TW. This tire isn't a dedicated winter tire but from what I've read it is great for the winter and all terrain. My main question is, should I go with the same tire size as the all season tires I that came with the truck. It came with 265/70 17in rim tires. So should I get 265/70 R17 winters? Is there an advantage in getting a different size, and what size will fit? Also, considering getting steel rims dedicated for winter, not quite sure what size rims are best/will fit. 17x9inch?
Anyway, thanks for any advice.

Also, if anyone has any experience with the cooper A/TW, let me know how you like em.

 

curious what you find myself. Way up north as well, truck came with Nitto Grappler 2s so will see how they go.

 

keeping it the same with keep the speedo on, or as long as its the same overall diameter.
I ran smaller tires on 17 rims last winter as a cheap option (came with 20s) speedo was off about 10-15km/h

Most off-road/mud tires, not winter rated suck in snow. Apparently also a Slimmer tire is better to, helps cut into the snow easier to the road and cant build up under it as much I suppose.
I plan to go bigger on mine, but I like the keep my summer and winter sets the same. I ran winters on my last truck all year, but had 2 sets. I ran them new for 2 years in winter, and then 2 years in the summer, This way I only had to get a new set every 2 years, sometimes I could go longer like 3/3 depended on the tires.

 

Keep in mind as well, when you run a smaller tire without programming your truck, your odometer is turning faster which will put more miles on your truck then there really are.
