I have a 2012 RAM 2500 with the 6.7. Vehicle has 30,000kms. Started losing power, would drop back to an idle and would'nt accelerate. Had to turn the engine off and re start, it would run normal for a while and do it again, would'nt go above idle and belch black smoke.

Problem diagnosed to the VGT. Seal on waste gate shaft leaking. The turbo itself is perfect.

In order to fix the dealer is saying I need to buy a whole complete new turbo assy to the tune of $3,987 plus sales tax because parts are not sold separately.

Truck is in Peru.

Is this normal ? What do you guys in the US do in cases like this ?
