Auto High Beam Dimmer not working

Auto High Beam Dimmer not working
So I noticed today that the Auto dimming High beams are not working. If I push the stalk forward I get no high beams while the headlight switch is in auto. If I put the rotary switch to just plain "On", the high beams come on. If the rotary switch is in auto mode the dash says that the Auto high beam is enabled. Pull the stalk back and it says it is disabled. What am I doing wrong? Oh and with the truck off if I push the stalk forward for high beams with the switch in "On" I can hear a loud click coming from under the hood. Almost like a clunk instead of a click. Hadn't noticed that, as I usually don't play with the headlights when the truck is not running. My neighbors would think I went nuts or something....
edited. Just looked at the touch screen. If I uncheck the auto dimmer function under lights in the touch screen app, the high beams come on, while the headlight switch is in "Auto mode"". Recheck the box and the high beams go out. (totally dark driveway)
