Default 2012 Ram 1500 Driver side door lock actuator

My driver side lock is gone on my truck, it makes a machine gun sound and rapidly moves up and down before locking (and occasionally won't lock at all). I have ordered a new actuator and removed the door panel. Just curious if anyone else has replaced their lock actuator before. There aren't too many videos on replacing the lock on newer Rams. I am wondering if I have to remove the inner door panel to replace the broken actuator? I was told at the dealership I most likely will, however I watched one video where the guy did not. Any help is much appreciated.

Jon

You should be able to get it out through an opening in that carrier plate. At least I can anyway. The book says take it off.

Ret assured, this won't be the only one you replace so go practice (:

Thanks, ya the more I look at it, looks like I should be able to get at the lock through that opening.

It's the plastic bracket that is a separate part on the inside that prevents you from taking it out...conventionally anyway. I have a time limit but you have plenty of time to do it the right way and not break anything.
