Default Burnt Oil Smell - Stopped or Backing Up!?!

I have a 2009 1500 with a Hemi. It has almost 290,000 kms on it.

All of a sudden (shortly after my second last oil change) I started to notice a slight burnt oil smell in the cab when backing up.

After a while it got stronger and now it happens whenever I am backing up and quite often when stopped for more than a few seconds.

I have done a visual inspection... assuming that I had a leaking valve-cover or something like that... but don't see any signs of seepage or staining anywhere. The oil filter and surrounding area is dry.

I have to admit that a "thorough" visual inspection is tough with all of the heat shields, covers and other things in the way. Will try looking around with a mirror if it's not snowing too hard tonight.

Has anyone experienced this... know where common leaks may start?

Thanks
