Hello all. I am new to the forum and wanted to reach out for some help from the members. I have a 2015 outdoorsman with the stock 17 inch rims. I just picked up a set of 20 inch rims from a 2017 1500 OEM 20 inch rims. I tried to put some tires on today but the tire shop would not do it bc the door strip stated that the tires had to be E rated and there were none in the 20's. Ive searched and they don't seem to make E tires in 275/60/20 but they do in 275/65/20.

I was wondering if it is really necessary to have E rated tires if we do not use the truck to haul anything other than household goods in the bed and even then, only rarely?

Also, if I were to place 275/65/20, will they rub?

What tire shop? I run LT tires on my truck and the sticker specifies "P". Never had a tire shop tell me what I can and can't run.

 

I asked the very same question. He said they were ok if I was asking to go to a higher rated tire. He said they could not go to a lower tire due to risk of "tire failure and lawsuit". Makes no sense as I see ram 1500 with 20's and non E rated tires all the time. Thats when he claimed the outdoorsman was "heavy duty model"

I had firestone try to pull that crap on me when I had a blow out right in front of their store. I run 285/70/17s E rated on my Outdoorsman. At the time I had 265/70/17s P rated and firestone would not put a P rated tire on. Mine actually came stock with 275/70/17 C rated tire but they are almost impossible to find.

 

Just bring the rims to the shop off the truck. Then there is no sticker.....
I had to do that because there were no TPMS monitors on the rims I got off craigslist. Shop wouldn't put them on without TPMS installed. I mentioned that this was not a safety sticker requirement, but they used the liability excuse as well. I brought the rims in to another shop and had no problem. Because there is no proof what they were going on.

 

Yesterday, I was at another shop which did it for me without any issue. Truck is sitting on the new rims as we speak.
