Backup in mirror too small for hitching
2016 Ram 2500 6.4L Tradesman
Tossing around ideas but don't want to drop a ton of money. I have several options...Buy a cheap backup camera system and store the monitor in the corner sole. Spend a couple hundred bucks on a cheap double din stereo/monitor and backup camera. Buy the IBall for $175 and stow it until needed for hitching. I would love to just pull the wires out of the mirror a d they magically plug and play into a aftermarket stereo. Why in the world would they put a cheap stereo like this in a $45k truck...and no Bluetooth ?? |
Spot mirrors and learn how to back up with them. $3.00. Done.

Spot mirrors on tow mirrors?
Sounds easy, but your solution isnt what I'm looking for. I generally get within a couple inches on first try but always ends up with hopping in and out of the truck 2-3 times...or more. |
If you need a backup camera to hitch up a trailer then maybe consider the type that replaces your rearview mirror. They are pretty cheap and you don't have the additional monitor piece or need to replace the stereo.

this is exactly what i did, but mostly for when the future wife has to drive the truck, she <5' and cant see over anything not to mention the tailgate so far away. |
