Default No Compression in Cylinder

2013 Dodge Ram 1500

We were driving on the interstate and hit a rough patch/pot hole going 75mph while the cruise was set. Immediately the engine sounded off. Really rough sounding. Brought it to a repair shop and was told the codes are P1417 & P1416. They were not able to help with this type of an issue so we brought it to another shop. They are still doing diagnostic on the truck but said that there is no compression in one cylinder. I have no idea what this could be? The shop wants another day to pull the valve cover. I am starting to get really worried that this is an expensive repair. How can something like this happen? We are just over 120,000 miles on it and absolutely no issues up to this point.

Based on the diagnostic codes, it sounds like the Multi-Displacement System failed to turn cylinders 6 and 7 back on after being in economy mode. Before tearing in to the engine, if it were my vehicle, I'd make sure the battery is fully charged and then reset the PCM.
