Rambox toolbox... Do you like them or not before I buy
I like the idea of the rambox toolbox on these trucks. If you were ready buy (order) a new truck, would you get one with or without the rambox? Has anyone had issues with them? Do people try to break into them thinking you have something of value in there? I'm interested to hear some feedback on them before I do anything. Thanks in advance.

I decided not to get them after i put my ATV in the back of a friends truck that had them. The tires just fit inbetween the sides, and when you get off it you have no place to step other than top of the rambox lids, that was the big reason for me for not getting them
I really like the Ram boxes on my truck. I keep things in them for ready access - jumper cables, test light, tow strap, air inflater, fire extinguisher, tire chocks, hand sanitizer, hand wipes, etc. For most of what I haul, the materials would not fit any better if I did not have the boxes. I have a 24' enclosed trailer that I use with the UTVs, so if I need more space than the bed offers, I just use the trailer. I installed a Truxedo cover which does not interfere with the boxes. With the tonneau cover, the RamBoxes are even more convenient in that I don't need to lower the tail gate every time I want to access something that easily fits in the boxes. When traveling with the family on vacation, the boxes work great for hauling items that we may need to access on the trip but that don't need to be in the cab or are too big to fit in the in-floor storage. They hold a surprising amount of stuff, and not just small stuff. I've also never had water get in the boxes, which is not the case with the tonneau cover.
The only issue I've had with my RamBoxes is the lock on one side stopped locking. It was a simple and easy fix - the plastic locking pieces for the lock rod had cracked. A couple of bucks at the auto parts store and about 30 minutes of time (next time will take even less) had it working again.

I'll have to take a good look at a truck with these boxes at a dealership. Sounds like you lose some space between the bedrails if I read the above correctly. I'm not interested in a tonneau cover so that won't affect me. Thanks for the responses so far.

You do lose space between the bedrails. Essentially the bed width becomes the space between the wheel wells. That space above the wheel wells becomes the lighted space inside the lockable Ram Boxes.

I didn't want the boxes when i purchased the truck in 2009, it just happened to have them on the vehicle I wanted. If I had to replace the truck today it would be the second option I would have to have, right behind 4 doors option.
plenty of room (I've gotten a doe in one before)
excellent as coolers
keeps junk out of cab
take out food, gas and everything else you don't want stinking up the cab goes in them
