I'm finally ordering the parts to replace the bad cam & lifters in my 2009 1500. If I purchase non-MDS lifters and un-plug the solenoids, will this effectively get rid of the system? I heard someone say I would have to re-program the computer....is this so, and if so, what is involved?

I suspect you'd get a check engine light if you just unplug the solenoids. Probably the easiest way to disable the system is the buy a tuner and disable MDS through the tuner. Hemifever should be able to hook you up and confirm that his tuners are able to disable MDS on the 2009 model year. They can on the 2014 Hemi.
