Customer Satisfaction Notification K17
2010 Ram 2500 Laramie Diesel VIN 3D7UT2CL6AG189282. I have a HVAC failure which appears to be as described in subject notification: loss of HVAC control and persistent clicking sound from one of the actuators. I have recently purchased the vehicle and have checked for recall notices, but, as this is not a NHTSA recall item, it is not listed as such. Also, a notice could have come through in the time I was making the purchase, possibly going to its former owner.
How do I determine if my vehicle is included in coverage for this repair? I asked my local dealer; the service people there seemed to be unfamiliar with the type of notification and any specifics on this particular one.
As a "poor ol' retiree", I'd appreciate any assistance you can give me.
Thank you.

Apparently the dealer didn't check your VIN for recalls because the Mopar site lists two open safety recalls for your truck.

Unfortunately for you, K17 is not listed as an applicable recall for your VIN.

Yep, Rod, I have the 2 open recalls. If my dealer ever gets the parts in, they may get completed. They have been "trying" to obtain the parts for 3 weeks now.
The "notification" K17 isn't an official recall, so doesn't show on the recall listing from FCA or government NTSHA lists. Searching on these so-called notifications (try it), you find K17 and many others, but there's no specific attribution or connection to VIN, as in the recall listings. This system would seem to be an actual effort at improved customer service (maybe half-baked regarding VIN tie-in). Oops! I dropped into an alternate universe where manufacturers produce products and stand by them without government direction!!!
At any rate, some drivers have had the problem fixed gratis at a few dealers. Others have gotten nowhere, or have had the work estimated at up to $2,000!
Thanks for the response.
