4wd issue after taking a sharp turn
Im thinking i found the issue, yet to confirm... i can hear the 4wd actuator/selenoid go when i turn the selector **** to 4wd, engauges, disengauges. While i was driving today, however, i began to hear some things. First it started as a clicking, similar to a bad U-Joint. Then it turned into a chattering. A quick youtube search revealed a possible explaination: stripped splines on the stub axle/cv axle union. Correct me someone if im wrong, but if the 4wd doesnt actually engauge on the passenger side, the drivers side also will not engauge?
This makes sense for a simple reason: cheap parts.few weeks ago i had a bearing catestrofically fail on me and it took the cv axle and steering knuckle with it. This happened at the worst time possible financially for me and i made the decision to save a few dollars and buy the cheap $50 masterpro cv axle. Yes yes yes, i knew it was low quality to begin with, but i needed my vehicle. Anyway, my assumption is that the cheap materials in that cv axle paired with probably not the most perfect tollerances resulted in the splines to shear off during that turn into my parking spot, and now i dont have 4wd. Makes sense to me🤷🏻*♂️ Silver lining here is stub axle will need replacement also if this is the case, which will make the repair SOOOOO much easier instead of screwing with the internal clip on the cv axle again🙄 lemme know what you all think! Thanks for the help you guys are rock stars
