Mystery low power issue after 2011-2013 Hemi swap
Hey there,
Looking for some good advice that might help me figure out the issue I'm having after swapping a 2013 Hemi into my 2011.
To make a long story short I bought a ram with a misfire, it was about 1400 kilometers from my house and I thought it was a good buy.
The owner told me there was a misfire code but it ran good, in any event I expected i would need to replace the engine. Once I arrived, flashing engine light and couldn't have been running on more that 5 cylinders.
Stupid me I drove it home shaking and shuddering like a motherXXXXr and made it back, I was sure I destroyed the cats as it was backfiring the entire way back and I wasnt getting more than 240 kilometrs on a tank. Not joking! I know I should have shipped it.
Ok so once I arrived home I knew the cam was toast and found an engine out of a smashed 2013 Ram with 67,000K
I took it to a mechanic(I didn't know) because he promised to get it done asap.
So 1 month later he finally finished it, when i arrived it sounded good! The mechanic explained to me that it wouldn't start so he swapped crank sensors from the 2011-2013 as well as the throttle body. He said the clip on the 2013 wouldn't fit my 2011 harness.
Once I drove off i can see it was weak, sounded like it was choking and even on wide open throttle just weak. Rpm doesn't rise fast and sounds a bit like screaming into a pillow, muffled a bit. I runs nice and smooth nevertheless and good at very low rpm. Not sure if it has a governor but while in park at full throttle it stays just under 4,000 rpm's. Even when it kicks down it seems like perhaps its not running on all 8 and perhaps for split second full power will kick in then retard instantly. I have a blue driver and saw no codes, so I assumed I got lucky with the cats despite the 1400 kilometers of misfiring and sputtering. I took it to another mechanic and said the gas pedal needed to be re calibrated and that caused the throttle to way off. Sounded like a reasonable explanation so he fixed it and it was the same.
I was tired of wasting money, got a heat gun and saw a cooler temp coming out the cats, about 310C in and 270C after the cats. Ok so I thought finally, makes sense. I went out, purchased a new Y pipe and transferred the 02's and although it sounded a bit better(older ones were ticking at the connection after engine replaced) Still slow and no codes!!
Does anyone know if swapping the crank sensor or throttle body might cause this?
I can look at some live modules on my Bluedriver but i'm not familiar at what I might be looking for. I did notice bank 2 sensor 1 was up/down and bank 2 sensor 2 up and down unlike bank 1 sensor 1 up/down and bank 1 sensor 2 steady.
I saw an 86% on wide open throttle??
I really appreciate any help, not sure what direction to go at this point.
Thanks
