OEM Remote Start Problems
I have a 2016 Ram 1500 Express with the 5.7L hemi. I did not have a factory remote start on my truck when I purchased it. I finally decided to get one from the dealership and I installed it following directions to a tee, but for the very last step I had to take my truck into the dealership for them to program the new key fobs to the new RF Hub Module. About $150 and 3 hours later they tell me everything is programmed and keys are linked but the remote start still does not work. They said it must be a installation error but it’s 2 wires that need to be ran not that big of a deal. Long story short I took it back to them and showed that all the wiring is correct and where it is supposed to be but they can’t tell me anything besides “it just isn’t starting”. Does anyone have any clue on what could be happening? Are they not programming it correctly? They said I could pay them $700 for labor to check and confirm the installation which is a rip off.
Does the system you installed require installation of or tapping in to a hood pin sensor or brake pedal switch sensor, and if so, have you confirmed they are both functioning properly at the remote start control box? Is there a "remote start safety override switch that you can toggle for test purposes?
Do the installation instructions refer to any sort of diagnostics (such as an LED) that might offer some insight in to why the remote start is not working? Is it supposed to flash lights when the start command is received, and if so, does it? Actually, can you provide details as to precisely how it's supposed to function per the instructions versus how it is functioning?
