Default Bumper Push Pin Question for my 2014 Ram 1500

Hello all,

I have noticed that my front bumper on the passenger side is missing two 'push pins' see photo below.

My driver side has these please see below.

I contacted by Ram dealer, and he said the part number is '6502871', however when I looked that part number up, it shows what looks to be a Phillips head screw. I am not sure that is right, as the ones on my driver side looks to not have a 'Phillips head screw'

Thank you for any help!

The ones on your driver's side seem to be rather large and gray to be the originals. The number provided by the dealer may be what's called out in their documentation. But honestly, the ones that are in the driver's side tend to be easier to remove without destroying them than what the dealer suggested.

If you have a auto parts store in your area they probably have a "Help!" section with a variety of these plastic body rivets where you can find small packs of both styles and go with what you prefer versus ordering sight-unseen from the dealer.

Those should work for your bumper. Those "phillips" screws are fake. They are really push pins. I have no idea why they decided to make them look like screws.

To get the heads back out to remove them, turning the heads with a philips screwdriver will usually back them out far enough to release the clip. Although if the heads are rounded out or the "threads" have gunk in them they won't always back out. Sometimes I find putting a putty knife between the panel and the plastic rivet will put just enough pressure on the threads to allow the screw portion to back out as well. And if not, then a couple of taps on the putty knife will trim the head off so I can replace the rivet.
