Default Fuel Filter system replacement

I have a 2010 2500 Diesel 4x4 Truck The fuel filter housing has cracked. The OEM replacement is $582+tax for the entire unit because that’s how the dealer sells it. If I’m going to fork out that much then I would rather upgrade the system. If that’s possible what brand/type is best/recommended? Or should I just find an aftermarket replacement canister and cap, which with minimal search will save me only about $150.

These newer diesel fuel filter housing are junk, all plastic. I would find one from older cummins diesel. You might have to run a small micron 1-2microns, I run a cat style filter filter ($26 bucks) as well as the factory unit. These newer diesel have injector/injection pump issues when debris gets by. You can use a 2014 dodge diesel filter in an older 4th gen truck, but its isn't cheap

do you live in a cold climate. if yes, the factory fuel heater is a nice option to retain.
