2018 HID or LED conversion PLUG AND PLAY.
Hello all, while i'm sure this is not a rare question i was unable to find with a search any current info on what the "Latest and greatest" is when it comes to headlight upgrades. I have an 18' 1500 with Quad headlights. They are just not bright enough for me. I don't however want to add auxiliary lights to my bumper. I also want to be able to leave them on at all times while driving at night. Not having to constantly turn them off when traffic is coming the other way. Their are so many LED and HID lights available i don't know whats good and what to avoid. In the past on other Ram's i had tried different HID kits they never worked. Either the bulbs didn't fit right and water got int the housings or they burned out in a few weeks. On one version it made all the lights in my interior flash. I do NOT want to cause any damage to the TIPM or any other part of my truck. Who makes a QUALITY upgrade kit that fits the factory housing properly for the normal beam headlights (don't care about the brights) and installs without cutting wires? And LED or HID?
Alternatively what about a really good Fog Light upgrade? Leave the headlights alone and upgrade the factory fog lights housings with an LED setup? I saw Morimoto makes a kit.

I have the factory projection housings on my 2017. I chose to use headlight revolution’s 55 watt HID kit. Completely plug and play. In fact, they now have a better kit available than the one I used. The kit handles the CAN integration and PWM circuitry, so you will never receive a light or message on the dash about bulbs being out. I also have their 35 watt HID kit in my fog lights. I like to run with only fogs on during dusk/dawn.
When headlight revolution said that the 55 watt bulbs are bright, they weren’t kidding. They are incredibly bright. Almost too bright. Road sign reflections at night are almost painful. I am finding that any other car’s headlights seem to be dim and useless.
In short, go with headlight revolution. You won’t be sorry.

Thanks for the detailed response. Sounds like that might be a good option then. I don't have the factory projector housings though, i hope i wont be blinding other cars with a system like that.
I am going to be upgrading my high beams to their LED kit. HID’s don’t make sense for high beams, but LED’s do. There really isn’t an LED on the market right now that competes with 55 watt HID’s, but they will definitely be brighter than the stock halogen high beams.
Ill take some photos tonight of my headlights. It is literally night and day difference compared to the stock halogens.
Awesome, thanks. I put an order together for the 55watt HID kit with the LED High beam bulbs. I watched his videos and the product looks decent. I'm way too nervous messing with cheap kits off ebay. Not worth the risk IMO.
I'm hoping that through aiming i can eliminate the blinding of oncoming drivers.

Well after putting an entire order together for HID Low beams and LED high beams and doing alot of research on multiple sites and YouTube reviews i have instead decided that the upgrade we are discussing isn't worth it for me so i decided on a different route. My issue was it was going to cost just under $500 in materials and then require re-aiming my headlights and then still being concerned with being one of those people i despise who blinds everyone with their headlights. I also looked into a turn signal upgrade with Switchbacks and that was another almost $200. So now i'm up to $700 to modify stock housings to give me a questionable amount of light and the hassle of aiming issues. I couldn't find anyone local to see what i want in person.
I looked into Morimoto's but was shocked at how many complaints their were about melting, broken alignment mechanisms, uneven cutoff lines, etc. And then after seeing nighttime pics and videos of their brightness i wasn't even impressed considering how much they cost. But i stumbled on to Alpharex Nova's and was very impressed with the features and light output. It's WAY better than Morimoto. So within a few minutes i was able to find a set brand new for $1,050 shipped. I'll have DOT compliant all LED housings with DRL's and LED turn signals that will require no modifications for a few hundred more than my original budget. So i'm hoping this will work. We shall see.
