2012 Dodge Ram Evic upgrade steering wheel won’t work
Hello all I’m having an issue, all ready search but can’t find what I’m looking for. I have a 2012 Dodge Ram truck that did not have any switches on the steering wheel and a cluster that only showed the miles of the car on a small led screen. I ordered me a evic cluster from a crashed 2012 Dodge Ram and a steering wheel with the switches also from a 2012. I replaced them cluster works fine only thing is the steering wheel switches will not do anything and my horn don’t work. Is there anything I need to do to make the switches communicate with the evic. Does anyone know what I can do?
Looks like a 3 year old thread, probably better starting a new one
In regards to the question. If the steering wheel had no controls and you added them, my first question would be is if the wiring is present in the clock spring. I would assume with the amount of buttons on the steering wheel these days gone are the resistor to ground type switches like the first steering wheel audio controls. I'm guessing its some sort of data link communication, which would then raise teh question if its a function that has to be set to present in the computer with either dealer software or alfa obd
