Default OEM Step Bars: 2012 Ram vs 2016 Ram 1500

Inquiring about Mopar part 68144258AE. According to factorychryslerparts.com - this fits years 2014-2019.

I inquired from a person selling these as used, I asked about space between brackets and it seems to match the distance between mounting locations on my 2012 Ram 1500.

If anyone knows the specifics, I would like to know if there was a change in the ram body between 2012 and 2016. Or if someone knows that these will fit my 2012 even though it lists only 2014-2019 Ram as a fit.

I found the answer to my own query. The difference between 2009 to 2012 for attachment location for running board/step bars. Where the rocker panel is pinch welded at bottom, there are no holes along the length of the pinch welds. In 2013 and newer, there are two small holes at each location where the step bars are secured to the back of the rocker panel, which adds support strength. With the quad and crew cab, along the rocker panel, between front and back of cab, there are three mounting points behind the rocker panel. Corresponding to these locations at the pinch welds, there are two holes in the 2013 and newer models.
