Default Help! Intermittent problem - wipers start & instrument cluster goes crazy

I have an intermittent problem with my 2012 Ram 1500 Big Horn 5.7L (100,500 miles). I suspect that there are loose connections to a control module, or one or more bad modules. When this happens, the truck continues to drive just fine but the windshield wipers activate (just one cycle) and many of the warning lights on the instrument cluster come on momentarily. Sometimes the tachometer and speedometer go to zero momentarily. Once, the controls for the heater and AC (fan, temperature, vent controls) all went dead and that lasted a few days. This problem is happening frequently now. More or less each time I drive the truck. It seems like sometimes it happens when I hit a bump in the road, railroad tracks, etc. It has happened when I'm stopped at a red light and in my driveway. Lately, I've been having problems with the aftermarket stereo losing power as well. That doesn't seem to be caused by the other problem I described, and could be unrelated.

Does anyone know what computer module or modules could be responsible for this issue? Wondering if it could be one of the door modules, or the "body" module (if that's a real thing)? I took the truck to a garage (not a dealership) when the problem wasn't happening. They couldn't find any clues about the cause and said they would need a code reader connected when it happens in order to diagnose the source of the problem. So far, I have not been able to get to the shop while this is happening.

Any ideas or suggestions would be welcome. I'd really like to avoid taking this problem to the dealership. I'm concerned that their solution will be very expensive.

Thanks for any help you all can provide.

Im having something similar happen, but I have transmission codes popping on and off. Yours sounds like it could have an open circuit or a bad ground wire though. Might test the grounds with a multimeter?

Probably a long shot... but did you find a solution to this??
I'm having this same issue... with the added condition that it only seems to happen only when the heater was running and air is warm. Seems to trigger when I hit a bump, and that's when I get the dash lights, radio off, wipers one cycle. My vent selection controls also stop working, and the temp control no longer functions. I have to unplug a locking harness on the back of the climate controls to "reset" the temp/vent control.
After it happens a few times, it stops... I'm guessing b/c the heater/air vents have cooled off.
As I'm typing this I'm realizing... could my heater motor be pulling too much current when pushing hot air and tripping something momentarily?

Default My problem is solved

I suffered with this issue for a few months and spent more than $600 trying to solve it. The solution turned out to be very simple: There is a large wiring connector that attaches to the back of the heater/ac module in the dash. The connector has a lever to lock the connector in place. My locking lever had come loose, and the connector was barely making contact. When I would go over a bump, the connector would jiggle and trigger the electronic freak-out. Once I identified the problem, pushing the connector in and securing the locking lever solved the problem.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info
That's the same one I need to pull off/on to reset the heat/vent controls. Seems tight and lever works, but I'll check its connections. Perhaps the other end somewhere under the dash is loose.
