Default Bed cap protector issues

Anyone else on here have this issue, with the bed cap protectors "bubble up" like this? I live in Iowa. Bought the truck used and has a Access brand tonneau cover on it. Does the cover affect this or is it weather related from being outside? Dealer said this was normal and I could replace them, but it would just happen again. Thoughts?
THANKS!

that looks like a heat warp issue to me, either that or someone clamped something to them and caused them to warp.

i havent experienced that on mine, but mines a 17 so not that old, I also have a cover clamped to the top of them.

I’ve only installed a few of these but the rail caps I’ve seen have a strip of exterior grade 2 sided tape on that outer edge to help secure it and prevent warping. Perhaps the installer decided not to do that or maybe didn’t know.

You might want to go to an accessory shop and ask if there’s a way to straighten it, but I question how well it would work. If you’ve ever tried to straighten a piece of bent angle iron, you’ll know that it requires making a cut or 2 in order to relieve the pressure - I suspect trying to straighten that bed rail will require the same method.
