2009 ram 5.7 hesitating during acceleration
Hey guys, I’ve been having some issues with my truck the last few months and it’s been getting worse. So when I go to accelerate it feels like my truck has turbo lag and especially when it’s cold. I’ve looked at other threads that were having some the same issue and they never had a solution at the end. Things I have done and checked already. I’ve changed the plugs, I’ve cleaned the throttle body, I’ve changed my MAP sensor, MDS is disabled. The truck also has a rough idle which it has had for a very long time. There are no active codes
First off what sparkplugs did you install? Hemis like the copper ones. They seem not to like the precious metal ones like the iridium, platnum etc. Also maybe something is wrong as it sounds like you have a bad cam. These hemis are known for the lifter to go bad and then it rounds off the cam and you will get a cylinder misfire and of course hesitating when you step on it. Do a compression test and see whats up on each cylinder.
To be honest I’m not sure of brand of spark plugs I installed but it was happening before I installed new plugs. I also have a hard time believing it is a cam issue as it happens worse when engine just fires up and I take off. It also doesn’t always have a hesitation. I’d say 70% of the time. Some time it has no issues at all accelerating. But I will do a compression test and see what I find just to be sure
