Post Trans swap

Calling all trans specialists - 2010 ram 1500 V6 2wd, getting an overhauled trans shipped this week from Reman, going to swap it out myself, anything unusual to watch out for?

thanks!

Default my swap adventure

Now is the time to check that rear main seal and flex plate condition. Any sensors in the rear of the engine may be more readily accessed with the trans out, and don't pinch wires. Dielectric grease for the connectors after cleaning. . Make sure the converter is all the way in the trans and doesn't slip out of alignment with the pump. Anything to do with the crossover pipe, the time is now. Drive shaft u joints are inspected, end play at pinion. Diff level, gasket?

Did you flush the lines and the cooler? I used an ebay $ 10 fuel pump and reversed flushed it. Then blew it dry.

I put in a cooler, and an inline filter for the trans as insurance. Some rebuilders require those for a warranty to be honored. Some will want a new radiator if you don't abandon the cooler . Some might advise a deep sump. Get it in writing. Someone here will possibly advise on the size of the cooler, I went overboard. 10 k later all is good and will change filter in spring. Make sure any rubber line you may be adding are rated for transmissions.

I go overboard because I believe Murphy was an optimist.

Safety squints because stuff always falls in your eyes at the worst moment. And of course you have all needed fluid, plus one quart or more extra for the cooler and filter. Best of luck..

Thanks Xombie,
All went well, nice easy job, ended up with new joints on the drive shaft whilst i was doing it, truck done a couple of thousand trouble free miles since swap. Old unit had got upto 330,000 miles so I got my monies worth out of it.
