Default Wrong oil filter used on 2012 Ram 1500 Big Horn 5.7L?

I took my truck to a Firestone for an oil change and routine check up before a long road trip. A few months after the trip I started noticing performance issues with my truck and started to hear a tick sporadically so took it back for a check up which they indicated it was the "Hemi tick" but wasn't as bad as others they have heard and there wasn't much they could do that wasn't extremely expensive. The performance has continued to deteriorate with a more frequent tick and the check engine light is on. I bought an OBD scanner to check the codes myself and am receiving a P1524 - Oil Pressure Out Of Range Camshaft Advance / Retard Disable. I checked the oil filter and saw that it was not compatible for my vehicle (based on the AutoZone website). The oil filter currently on my truck is STP S10590, but AutoZone shows it should have been STP S2. The thread size is exactly the same which I assume is why it fits. Does anyone know if that is true that it is not the correct filter? Could this have caused any kind of permanent damage to the engine? Including why it seems the engine function is going downhill? I don't want to take it back to Firestone at this point because I don't trust them to service my truck correctly. Thanks in advance for any help/advice.

Quick search says wrong filter. Cheapest route change the oil and the right filter. You could back to Firestone and ask them to fix the problem.

You need to find out if the vvt cam phaser is actually working hydraulically and replace it if necessary.

And I'd advise going with the largest high flow filter that will fit which also has by far the most square inches of filter media and a properly designed anti drainback valve. The Motorcraft FL-820S. Also switch from watery 5w20 to a high quality 5W-30 synthetic like Quaker State Full Synthetic API SP and changing it every 3,000 miles if you care about your engine. You can find great prices on it at your local Walmart. The second best filter would be the Purolator L24651 or the Bosch 3334.

I have to disagree. Changing out synthetic oil every 3000miles s a waste of money.

Dodge or Stellantis doesn't give one hoot about you or your truck. The 8,000 mile or more oil change is all about their corporate image and promoting a false lower cost of ownership. The oil should never go beyond 5,000 miles if driven in lightly loaded, no stress conditions at best. Oil degrades rapidly after 3,000 miles, even the best synthetics and there is no such thing as extended oil changes, with either the engine manufacturer or what the oil company's marketing says. It's all a big hoax. But it's your truck, do what you want, believe what you want, it doesn't change the truth.
