2011 Big Horn 5.7 - Ignition capacitor location???
I’m trouble-shooting a stalling on decel problem and want to inspect/test the radio capacitor for the ignition system.
However, it’s not in any of the places it should be, or even the places I’d expect to find it.
Service manual says it’s mounted above the PCM on the firewall - nothing there.
I’m experienced enough with modern vehicles to know that they all use at least one capacitor, if not 2, in parallel with the coil circuits. Most common mounting areas are the front or rear of the heads - nothing there either. I’ve used my inspection camera and mirror on both heads, from above and below, and there’s no trace of a capacitor.
What’s more, I’ve been as thorough as possible with harness inspection in the visible areas, and I don’t even see wiring for the capacitor. If I found a loose-hanging plug or corroded/damaged wires I would verify if that was the correct circuit.
I suspect it’s buried in the harness at the back of the intake (possibly from a previous repair) but that means pulling the intake for inspection. While not a difficult job, I’d rather not remove it unless I’m sure it has to be done.
SO, I was hoping someone else may have run into this and knows where else I could look.
As always, thanks in advance.
