Default Sound coming from the rear

Hi guys, i just got my laramie monday with the 3.92 axle and i think something is wrong with it. Well what happens is i hear a clunk/thud and feel a slight shake coming from somewhere in the back of the truck when i come to a complete stop. Any clues to what this may be?

I don't know what that may be, but it definitely doesn't sound right. You may hear some funny noises when starting from a stop up a hill, but that's your hill assist. It should not make any noises when coming to a stop.

I have the 3.92 as well and i heard/felt the same thing when i first got my truck. It feels like somethings sliding forward in your bed or something is engaging in the rear. It did it for awhile but has stopped. I'm at 1200 miles

I want to ignore it as long as it doesnt come and bite us in the a$$ later. I have the Max Care warranty but when i buy a new car i expect it to be perfect. I am already reading around in these forums that the rams seems to have a few issue from leather seat wearing out to MDS causing vibration.

I have been noticed it more lately. Its actually starting to increase at 500 miles. Another new thing its doing lately is while steady driving up a hill, it up shifts and down shifts rapidly and you can see the rpm needle jump up and down. At least it feels like it trying to shift, i could also say it feels like it slipping. Ill give it some gas and the trans confusion will go away. WTF is wrong with my truck?

Yep-take it in asap. The gear hunting thing makes me wonder if something has damaged the vehicle speed sensor. Guess where that's located? The rear axle. I busted the spider gears up in the limited slip unit in the dana 80 of my dually once, and the first symptom was that the speedometer quit working. Turns out, pieces of gear had messed up the sensor and the tone ring that actuates the sensor.

You might wonder what this has to do with you. Part of the decision-making on what gear to shift to is based on vehicle speed. I hope I'm wrong, and you don't have stuff floating around in the axle.
