Default Easy Down Tailgate

I installed one of these easy down tailgate extenders on Friday. It works great.
Now the five year old will not bonk his head when he trys to open it (not bad for us old farts either).

Mopar part number: VEZD0001AA
about $65
Install: 15 minutes w/ no holes to drill

(Pics now attached)
Video also up for those interested:

So the one for the older Rams fits? Does the shock hit the rubber bumper in the middle? I took mine off before trading the 05. Was going to sell but if it fits the 09, all the better!

the package does state that it fits the previous year models, back to 2000 i believe.
the shock does not rub on anything, but you will need some more shrink fit to put on the cable stay. it keeps it from wandering outside of the shock and pinching when you raise the gate.
email me if you want a copy of the instructions.

Thanks for the info. I've still got everything but the shrink tube. Have to take a look at the fit.

x2 - I'm trying to figure out why such a thing would be neccessary. The 5 year old would only do it once (or twice) and then learn

Not sure how you would break it as the cable would get broken first. The shock is pretty well protected and you'd have to go through the cable first to hit it. As to why someone would want one, if you try to open the gate with your arms full, all you do is get the latch open and the gate comes down slowly, not slamming down. The new 09 is not as bad as the previous gen trucks though. But that is what it is for.

A 5 year old can't even reach the latch so that statement doesn't even make sence.
