Default How to disassemble your mirrors

Remove your mirror glass. This is done by puling on the top of the mirror glass (out/downwards). The top will "unclip" while the bottom will be held in by two "hooks". See pics below. Pic of the back of the mirror with the "hooks" circled and pic of the mirror before pulling the top out and before tilting all the way and taking the "hooks out". Note, I had to use a small flat head screw driver along with the pull out/downward pressure to get the top of the glass to pop off. Others have just been able to just pull. **if you have heated mirrors remove the two black wires after getting the glass loose.

Back of mirror glass. Circled parts are the "hooks" at the bottom. Directly above is the clips that hold the top in place.

Before pulling the top part of the mirror out/downwards. Circled part being the top where the clips will be (can not see them)

Mirror after top is uncliped/pulled out but with the hooks still in at the bottom.

Mirror tilted enough where I can slide the "hooks" out, which will allow the glass to come out (if you have the heated version also pull the two black wires off).

So the mirror glass is now out. If you want to remove the painted part and puddle light..... Remove the three torq circled in the first pic. After that the only thing holding the painted part to the black frame is a little "hook" in the second pic. That is in the lower right corner of the painted piece (looking at the painted side on passsenger side, left lower corner if drivers). Slowly work the painted part off, keeping in mind to slide that "hook" out rather than just rip straight off. The puddle light will come with it, but I found it easier to remove from the painted part first for the simple reason that the wire going to the light is easier to remove with the painted part out of the way.

Now.... I take no responsibilty for your broken parts. You are dealing with plastic and applying pressure. But there are suppose to come apart and if done right will be fine.

Note, if you want to keep this (with pics) better save it onto your PC. Pics will not be available forever since I am hosting them.

Is it possible to remove the puddle lights without taking the hole mirror apart?
