My 4wd light flashes and won't stay constant lit. Seems as though the 4wd is engaged. Anybody know anything about this? It is a 2011 Ram. Thanks

Mine only flashes when it is going into or out of 4x4. Stays on once it is in, or goes out when it is out. 2009 Sport.

surfaces only. Driving in the 4WD LOCK and 4WD LOW
positions on dry hard surfaced roads may cause increased
tire wear and damage to the driveline components.
NOTE: The transfer case NEUTRAL position is selected
by pressing the recessed button located on the lower left
hand corner of the 4WD Control Switch. The transfer case
NEUTRAL position is to be used for recreational towing
only. Refer to “Recreational Towing” in this section.
Transfer Case Position Indicator Lights
The Transfer Case Position Indicator Lights (4WD and
4LOW) are located in the instrument cluster and indicate
the current and desired transfer case selection. When you
select a different transfer case position, the indicator
lights will do the following:
If all shift conditions are met:
1. The current position indicator light will turn OFF.
2. The selected position indicator light will flash until the
transfer case completes the shift.
3. When the shift is complete, the indicator light for the
selected position will stop flashing and remain ON.
If one or more shift conditions are not met:
1. The indicator light for the current position will remain
ON.
2. The newly selected position indicator light will continue
to flash.
3. The transfer case will not shift.
NOTE: Before retrying a selection, make certain that all
the necessary requirements for selecting a new transfer
case position have been met. To retry the selection, turn

 

Hmm...yeah my 2010 stayed constantly lit. Now I come home with my new diesel last night put it in 4wheel and it did that. Was hoping something had changed.........uggghh. thanks

 

Mine did this a while ago. Dealer said to put it in 4low, then back in 2 wheel, then back in 4 wheel hi and that should take care of it. Worked for mine and another guys here on the forum.

 

It helps, too, to stop, put the trans in reverse, go a few feet, stop, then back to drive.

Its prob stuck trying to get out of 4L mine does that if I dont get it all the way out

 

Nothing like a good old T-Case shifter to jam into and out of gear... sometimes a pain in the ***, but you always knew if you were in 4WD or not (assuming you remembered to lock the hubs)...

 

Yeah and I always thought manual t case were laughable when dealers ordered them these days, boy was I wrong. Yeah I'll have to try putting it in 4LO haven't done that yet. But did try stopping and going in reverse and all of that. 4 wheel works just fine. Talked to a dealer earlier today he said there has been some problems like that, some wiring and sensor problems.

 

yeah mine used to do that. I had to take it in and the dealer just reset the 4 wheel drive module? Where ever that is. The first stealer said they had to order a new one, but that's a whole other story. I ended up taking it somewhere else and I got it back the same day. My problem was when I had it in 4x4 the light just flashed. It wasn't engaging. So I don't know if it's the exact same problem, but it seems related. Good luck.
