1500 Outter Tierod Recall
Just got a call today that the tierod recall effecting the 2500 and 3500 trucks has been extended to include 4th gen 1500's as well.
I'm not sure if it effects only particular drivetrain, cabs or motors but I have a Crew Hemi 4wd and mine is part of it. It seems like the dealers are getting pounded with calls to schedule so call asap. One dealer was already scheduled to the end of Sept. Between part allotment and quantity of trucks.

Its actually funny that I bought my 2009 Ram 5 months ago with about 20,000 miles on it and after having it a few months it felt like something was not right up front. I brought it to the dealer and they told me everything was fine. Well it seemed to get worse over the last couple of months and then this recall came out covering all models except mine. I called a few weeks ago to bring it in again because it was like my whole front end would shake when I kit a bump or went over RR tracks and I almost felt like I had little control when this happened. They brought it in and told me the rod ends needed to be replaced and they would call me when the parts came in. I called early this week to see if they were in yet and they informed me about the recall that came out that day that expanded including the rod ends on my truck. They had no idea when the part would eb in becasue of the recall but low and behold I got a call Tuesday that is was in and they are replacing the part today. I am really hoping that this fixes the problem and is not something they did just becasue the recall was out there.
Hopefully it resolves your issue. Mine has 41K on it and I haven't had a symptom like yours but I have noticed the truck likes to wander around on the road more than it used to. I don't have any play in the wheel or noises from the tie rods but maybe its related. I hope its not a ball joint issue like on earlier trucks.
Hmmm, got a call a couple of months ago from the local service department that my tie rod was 'suspect" and they recommended replacing it. I paid for it out of pocket. I wonder if I can get reimbursed? 2009 1500 4x4 aprox 40k miles on it when replaced.
I have had my tierods replaced twice and ball joints once....I currently have 61000kms, just out of bumper-bumper warranty. The first set of tierods went at 27k kms, the second at about 50k kms. Both were covered under warranty. Figure it should be due for a new set here soon, hopefully they recall mine. Rediculous that the front ends fall apart on a brand new truck. Next set that I have to put on that I have to pay for will be Moog, have a grease nipple and lifetime warranty.

Did you have the leveling kit installed when the tierods went bad? I've been wanting to do a leveling kit and some people say it'll cause ball joint and tie rod problems. Not sure what to think since some people don't have any issues.
On dodge.com it says my '09 has the recall when I put in my vin.
