I hear this strange roaring under my truck. I look under it and see this.

Thats a weird one. Nut looks like is still on, pinion shaft doesn't appear to have broken. Outer pinion bearing came apart?

That's what it looks like. It has lots of free play in it. I'm afraid to drive it bc it might lock up

I sure wouldn't drive it. I'd have it towed to the dealer on a flatbed.

Yeah, I wouldn't drive it either. Oh well, I hope yours is still under warranty - they do have a 100,000 mile (forgot how many years) warranty on drive train stuff, right?

Hope it is under warranty too, because you're going to need a new gearset. Be interesting to see what the ring and pinion look like after the pinion has been flopping around like that.

Cmerritt,
report this to the NHTSA as soon as possible...!!!! I pasted the contact link in here for you.
These dammm trucks NEED to be recalled and fixed before someone gets killed...!
I`ve reported mine, so now its on file. If they get enough complaints, they`ll force chrysler to recall them.

Anyone else in here on these forums with differential issues, report the issue using the link below.
We need to get more people involved so that chrysler is forced to recall and fix these trucks...!
