RE: NEED a 340 or 360 engine with 4 speed!!
I meant a manual 4 speed!! I'm building a full size replica of the NASCAR racecar I used to be a "helper" on back in 1979...Frank Warren's Dodge Magnum (body anyway!) #79.
There's sites devoted to these old Magnums, and they DO have a charm all their own. When the '75 Charger was no longer legal in '78, all the guys running Dodge had no choice but to change the sheet metal to the '78 Magnum. Even the Pettys!!! Kyle drove his first race ever (the ARCA race at Daytona in one...and won it) But Richard couldn't make it/his competitive and switched to GM cars.
Guys like Frank Warren with limited (like VERY little) money had no choice but he made it work!! The first race I helped him was the '79 Talledega race and he took that Magnum down there and qualified 9th!! He always qualified really well at Daytona and Talledega.
That's the reason for the "magnum79fan" handle!! I'm building this out of a "street Magnum" I bought for $120 and drove home!! It has a poor running 318 with an automatic...I want to put something in it so it at least SOUNDS like the NASCAR version when started up at car shows etc. There's an event for the "vintage" race cars at Michigan Speedway the weekend of August 4-5 (when the Indy cars are there) and I WANT to have it there. We get to run 'em ON track 4 times during the two days too!!
ANY help or advice on getting this ready would be well apprecialted!!

honestly, you can build the 318 to run well..it wont run like a stock car, but it will run better than it does now..especially with an 833 swap.

IF I can't find a 340/360 with the 4 speed, and time gets short (and money too!!) I just might have the 318 gone through, add a 4 barrel intake, some headers....and maybe even leave the automatic there (have it checked too)!!
Sorry I don't know more but what is meant by a "388 (was it??) swap"???
