1990 Dakota Sport 4x4 V-6. Needs Trans $600/obo
I bought this truck only because it had a meyers power angle plow. I just mounted the plow frame on my other Dakota so this parts truck is now up for sale minus the plow. It goes on ebay by the weekend, just thought I'd try my luck selling it here first. Take a minute to read....ask any questions. I'm located in Norton, OH 44203.
Offered for sale is a 1990 Dodge Dakota 4x4 truck that needs a transmission.I originally bought the truck with the intentions of putting a transmission in it, but it is just more work than I can handle right now. There is no transmission in the truck so I have never been able to start it since the starter bolts to the transmission and the flywheel/torque converter is in the back of the truck.
The history on the truck….the truck was used to plow snow with. The transmission went bad.The previous owner pulled the transmission and bought a used transmission. The transmission was then promptly stolen from the back of the truck before he could install it.Disgusted and broke he signed off the notarized TITLE.Sometime before the previous owner bought the truck the owner before him must have had the engine replaced. The sellers portion of the title is notorized...it's just waiting for a buyer to fill out the buyer's portion of the title.
Realize that this truck requires some work. The obvious piece missing from this puzzle is the automatic transmission. The transfer case, front and rear drive shafts, cross-member and shift linkage are in the truckbed.Along with all these parts is a coffee can full of nuts and bolts. The rest of the bolts and parts are on the passenger side floorboards. 149k miles on the truck.
Engine:Under the hood of this Dakota I was pleased to find a very clean 3.9L V6 that I am convinced is a recently rebuilt or remanufactured engine. The block is very clean. On theoil pan is a paper sticker that is still so clean that I can read the part number and shipping labels for the new pan.On the back-side of the engine are some nice and bright new freeze plugs.I am sure that this engine has been replaced/rebuilt fairly recently.Have I heard it run?Nope….can’t start it without a transmission to attach the starter to.It does turn over by hand though with no noises and I can feel lots of compression when turning it by hand.It also has lots of new parts on the top end (EGR Valve, TBI parts, new ignition wires, etc.)
I have every reason to believe that this is a good engine.
Body:The body is pretty solid on this little Dodge.Obviously, the hood and grille has been replaced. You’ll find a few bubbles on the bottom edges and some paint has peeled off on the bottom of the door edges. The bed is solid aside from a dent behind the cab on the driver sided.Dented right front fender. There are lots of pictures available….take a look at the pics.If you need close up detailed pics just ask and I’ll send them to you.The front bumper is currently in the back of the truck.
Interior:Fair.Driver’s seat has a 2”-3” split at the seam.A little soap and water and the shop-vac would do wonders for it.
Tires:Two of them are good.Decent tread on all tires, but the driver’s side tires have leaks. The leaks can be repaired.
I’m willing to part out this truck, but I’d rather sell it as a complete truck.Let me know what you need and we can work out a deal if I don’t sell the truck as a complete project truck.
No PayPal.No Foreign buyers. No shipping.Local delivery within 75 miles is possible at $1.50 per loaded mile paid upfront.

The truck went to the crusher a few months ago. All that I have left are a collection of misc. parts. Driveshafts, transfer-case, and hood.
And No....the transmission wouldn't fit. 89 & 90 3.9 only.
