I hope not, The 5.9 the truck came with went to $hit immediately after buying it. That's why I now have the 318. I was hoping to find a spare keg to do the mod without tearing the only one I have up. Looks like I am going to pass on the mod. Ordering the Hughes kit and basically a complete cooling system today. Opting for all OEM replacement. I saw a DIY on the trans cooler line check valve delete. Has anyone here tried it and liked it or could this cause more damage?

I don't need the power and all my old dodges had Flawless 318s. On the other hand my Durango 5.9 took a crap and so did the one that came with this truck. I figure if the plenum and a couple other things are the most I have to deal with, I can manage. Better than blowing up completely.

What year is yours? 93-96ish have the EGR valve. 97-2001 do not. You don't want to mix them. The extra one I have is a 95 with EGR.

I have a 95 w/egr. But I think I will have to wait on the mod. Financially cannot make room for it at the moment. Thanks for the feedback

It costs $30 in gaskets and your time unless you go with the al plenum. Pinging can and will blow your motor

I hear ya. I found a local guy got a keg for free. Trade for 2 plastic jeep bumper end caps. Try local yards pick and pull 20 bucks or so. Even if you dont do the mod its a good idea to replace the gasket
