Yeah that's right. A lot of wheel exchanges require the wheels coming from the customer to be factory finish and/or non-chrome (not always mutually exclusive, as you know!).

I've been seeing a lot more wheels popping up on Craigslist if that helps. Check in the Florida or California areas where a lot of chroming is done and see if the people will ship to you if the deal is right.

Today I found a set of the factory chrome 18's from a 2009 Aspen. The owner said they where only on her Aspen for a few months after they bought it, then they took them off to put on aftermarkets. I'm getting all four for $400 including shipping. Not bad considering the dealership I called wanted $600 each for these new (ridiculous), and a set of decent aftermarket rims in size 17" or 18" where going to be closer to $600-$800 for four. Most importantly though, the wife likes them, and she's the one who drives our Aspen 95% of the time.

So, I got what I needed. Now the question is, should I sell the factory 20's that are currently on our Aspen, or keep them for when we resell our Aspen sometime in the future. Or just keep them as a spare set incase we ever want to go back to 20's. I have seen other factory 20's come and go on Craigslist for pretty high dollar, I could easily recoup my $400 if I sold them, plus some.

Tough call. I know a guy that did a lot of work to his cars, but he would always resell them with factory stuff put back in because he'd often make more money that way than with all the mods in place.

Wheels, however, do fetch a nice price when you find the right buyer. Some of the places that do exchanges will also buy factory wheels from someone if it's something they have demand for.
