Hbs leveling kit FS
hey guys and gals,
i had my HBS, hell bent steel, leveling kit on my 07 4x4 quad cab and man did it look good. after having it on there for a couple of weeks, i noticed a clanking, metal hitting metal, sound. this only happened when going over curbs or bumps while turning. then i was fishin w/ my lil boy and went over a very small rut, and CLANK. i thought my motor was fixing to fall out of my truck. then the noise was pretty regular. took it to my local shop and seen what he thought it was and he thought my axle on my drivers side was bad. replaced it, and still no change in the clanking noise. after about a week of research and all of his resources from dodge and people's tire, no one knew what was causing it. he put it up on the rack and showed me what was happening. w/ it in neutral and him spinning the fr/lft tire, it would bind up so bad and move the motor and transmission about an inch. the tire wouldn't spin on it's own. u could muscle it past the binding, then it was free again. so, i needed my truck back and told him that was the only thing that i could think of was the leveling kit. so, he took em out, and that fixed everything...... i wanted it to be something different cause i like the look, but i couldn't afford the banging noise and what it was wearing out.....
so, i have a set of HBS spacers that i will let go for 75. shipped... i know this isn't a sell/trade thread, but i figure people will read this and may be interested in getting some.....

thanks guys...

thanks guys...
i have 33 inch tires.. put those on before i done the leveling kit and all was fine. put the leveling kit on and then a few weeks later, the noise started. took the leveling kit out and kept the same tires and wheels, and no more noise.
my shop guy said that nobody has ever seen a transmission and motor move that much when the tire rotated. it was crazy when he showed me what was going on. anywho, it's better now, but my truck is nose down and i don't like that. lol...

I think you talked everyone out of your level kit?? The problem you were dealing with was from the severe angle of the CV shafts(bind) and the clank was from the suspension parts touching one another. The clank noise won't hurt anything, but the bind will.
If you really like the look of the level kit, I suggest going a different route such as Bilstein 5100 leveling struts. It's the right way to do it. It provides a new lengthened strut with raised spring perches that won't cause the bind or clank you have previously had. Some guys have the problem while others don't. That's how fine of a line the spacers run on.
My buddy was looking into spacers even after all I have debated with him. I will see if he is interested in purchasing yours and i will let you know.

hey dirtydog,
i would love to get rid of these. they are for an 06-07 1500 ram, 4x4.... they were in for just about a month.
i done a ton of research on the leveling kit before i bought it and seemed like these were fail safe. even my shop guy, who does rock crawling, said that he installed 10 sets of these and hasn't ever had any issues out of em. maybe i jus have a tempermental dodge. lol... everything else is kosher tho..
let me know what ur buddy says...
thnx.
