Default RE: questions about ohms on amps

hey durangodie why do you have to be an ***..

The man is asking a simple question..

Ohms is a measurement for measureing resistance.

When you look at a amp it will have different ratings.
Lets look at a 2channle amp

Say it is rated 400watts x2 at 4ohms
600 watts x2 at 2ohms
and 800 watts x1 at 2 ohms

this means when two speakers that are rated at 4 ohms are hooked up left and right you would get 400 watts
if you take two speakers that are rated 2 ohms and hooked them up left and right you would get 600 watts

This could go on and on.. The best thing to do is to go to a car-audio shop and listen to a amp and subs and then tell them what you are looking for. They will be able to match the correct ohm rated sub (since they are availible in different ohm ratings).

If you have any other questions please let me know.
