Local rim shop was no help & according to performanceplustire.com our wheel specs. are slightly different.
Vehicle Selected: 2006 DODGE TRUCK DAKOTA 2WD
Factory Tire Size: 245/70-16 | Factory Bolt Pattern: 5x139.7 | Hub: 77.8 | Offset: MID | Lug: 9/16"
Vehicle Selected: 2000 DODGE TRUCK RAM PICK-UP 1500 2WD-4WD
Factory Tire Size: 225/75-16 | Factory Bolt Pattern: 5x139.7 | Hub: 77.8 | Offset: LOW | Lug: 1/2"
The offset is different as well as the lug size. It appears that the offset on my truck is positive & yours is negative.

I did some checking on tirerack at it show the offset being the same... so who knows. But the lug size is key. That makes sense in the size difference. Oh well... we tried.
