Default 1987 Dakota "Indy 500 Pace Truck"

1987 "Indy 500" Pace Truck. 3.9L V6 auto 4x4 with 120k miles

This is a true survivor and is in all original condition. I bought it from the original owner 11 years ago when it only had 20k mile on the odometer. I have heard the there where only 500 of these trucks made available to the public and that most of them where the 8' bed versions and not the 6' bed sport version like this one. I have put the majority of the mileage on this truck and it has NOT given me one single problem what so ever. It still runs and drives the same way that it did when I bought it 11 years ago. I have ALWAYS changed the oil at 3k intervals and have also changed the trans filter and fluid at 50k and I recently did it again shortly after the 100k point. The A/C still works great as well as all of the other creature comforts. 1987 being the first year for the Dakota's, the 87's didn't receive the troublesome O.D transmissions like the 88's and up's did. The trans in this truck is the 3spd lock-up version the A904 trans and shares almost everything in common with the A904. the 4wd unit works flawlessly and is shift on the fly 4wd. There is NO rust on this truck what so ever and the original paint still looks great for it's age and has been garage kept since new. The interior is just as nice as the outside as well as the engine compartment. I do have pic's of interior and engine compartment for those interested...

The GOOD:
Recent replacements are the rear brakes and e-brake cables (last weekend). I replaced the original water pump and belts about 10k ago. While I was at replacing the water pump I also decided to replace the timing chain even though the original was still like new. I have also recently (5k ago) put new tires on all 4 corners as well.

The BAD:
......Ohhh yeah,....There is none!!

Asking $5500, but will consider reasonable offers too....

Thanks for looking...
Troy

Forgot to mention....

I also have an 87 3.9 engine that goes along with the truck. Complete from carb to oil pan. I was going to use it to build up at some point. It's was a running engine when we removed it from my Dad's Dakota before we did the V8 swap....

Anyone going to grab this truck before I change my mind about selling it???

Well, I've aready offered it to go with the truck, but if I end up keeping the truck (which I may), or the potential new owner doesn't want it I'll let you know...

Thanks

I know this is a stupid question, but is your truck still for sale?
Looks really nice might be interested.
