Default 6 1/2 in the place of a 5 1/4?

Does anyone know if you can fit a 6 1/2 in. speaker where a 5 1/4 in. speaker was?

Well I was stubborn and went ahead and bought the Pioneer 6 1/2's. Guess what? They fit! No cutting! It was tight, but then I snipped off the little prongs on the outside of the speaker and they went right in. Believe it or not.

That's cuz a Pioneer 6.5 is more like a 6". Still surprised it fit though.
