VSS wire 06 Ram
Ok, to the guys who know what their doin...... Were can I find it. Or would I be better off buyin an adapter? I had the non-nav radio originally so with a can-bus adapter will I even get a VSS conection? Please help if you can. If it helps im instaliing a AVIC-D3 in my truck and selling my 7800.
Yes you will still get the VSS with the CAN-BUS adapter. I don't tink anyone has found an actual wire you can use as a straight VSS wire on that truck yet. So an adapter is almost a must. This model works really good. http://www.ifar.ca/vehicles/2006/dodge/ram_1500_pickup/
Or you can use the common PAC model C2R-CHY to get your signals.

If you want to search for the VSS you can, the plug should be either in the rear diff. or output shaft of the trans.
You can test it by using a multimeter with continuity. Find the wire you think might be it. Put one lead of the meteron the wire and the other to ground. Now with the vehicle in neutral, have a buddy push the vehicle and get it rolling a little bit, or just start it and put it in gear and roll a little bit. The meter should beep while rolling if you've got the right wire.
The VSS is a Negative Pulse. I believe Dodges are 2800 pulses per mile. But it may be 4000.

There is a VSS on the 06s, at least on the SRTs. Try this: http://www.avic411.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=11688 and about 2 or 3 posts down are a couple of wiring connector pinouts with the VSS being #27 on connector 2 at the PCM, I believe.
